Update On Richie Silverman
Trot Insider recently received an update on driver Richie Silverman one month after his accident
at the Meadowlands.
"I'm back home in Florida now," Silverman told Meadowlands' Bob Heyden. "The trip was a little tough. My ankles don't bother me when they're elevated, but when I put a little pressure on them I can feel it. But I'm coming along pretty well."
Initial reports had Silverman, who fractured both his ankles in the June 18 accident, starting rehab in early August and that target date looks right on track.
"I'm driving my family crazy now that I don't have any nurses around. I go back to the doctor in two weeks. I'd say it's about three weeks until I can start doing some rehabbing and put some weight on my feet."
Fans of harness racing have offered their support to Silverman, who is touched by the well wishes.
"I'd like to thank everyone who has sent me cards and letters - many from people I don't know. It's been overwhelming and means an awful lot to me."
