Another Plate For Pinkney?
Veteran horseman Phil Pinkney will look to earn his third Governor’s Plate trophy when he sends out elimination winner Proven Lover in the $16,000 event this Saturday at Red Shores at Summerside Raceway
.
"He's a six-year-old and he's probably got some battle scars, but he's a true racehorse," Pinkney told The Journal Pioneer.
Pinkney won the 2007 edition with Dunachton Gale in a 1:54.2 stakes record and the 1993 edition with No Worries in 2:01.3. The winner of the 2008 O’Brien Award of Horsemanship will drive the son of Real Desire-Loving Proof, who will start from the outside Post 8 after winning his elimination in 1:56.3. He is owned by Walter Simmons of Summerside and Casey Gavin of Tignish, PE.
Proven Lover and fellow elim winner Carnivore (PP1) will be among the talented field of pacers attempting to upend Outlawpositivcharg’s (PP4) two-year domination in the Plate.
Summerside’s signature event will be aired on the Bell-Aliant Race Day Show beginning at 6:15 p.m.
