“No Time For Longshots”
That was the word from Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, who announced yesterday he would not support the legislature’s lawsuit seeking to end the federal prohibition on sports betting in all but four grandfather states, including neighboring Delaware.
The governor’s counsel yesterday notified the judge in the case the governor thought “state resources would be better utilized by focusing on other issues,” and he called the suit “a legal longshot.”
Horseracing interests in the state are hoping that the 'other issues' will include relief for New Jersey racing.
