Part Shark Goes Gate-To-Wire Again
Part Shark and teamster Scott Zeron wired Grand River Raceway’s Preferred pacers for the second week in a row on Wednesday evening at the Elora half-miler
while Bank President showed the trotters who's boss in the co-feature with Simon Allard in the bike.
In the $10,500 Preferred 2 Pace, Zeron directed the Post 1 starter through stations of :28.2, :58.1 and 1:25.2 before sealing the deal with a :27.4 final frame. The 3-2 favourite stopped the clock in 1:53.1 with a three-length margin of victory. Acceptable Risk (J.R. Plante) followed under the wire from the pocket and longshot Leader Bayama (Paul MacKenzie) rounded out the top three, finishing 10 lengths behind.
Wayne Preszcator trains Part Shark, a four-year-old son of Four Starzzz Shark-Pop Art, for the Secret Weapons Stable of Waterloo, ON. The win was the gelding’s third in a row and sixth of the season out of 20 starts. His earnings now stand at $57,080 for the year and $163,410 lifetime.
Favourite Son Of Paige (Anthony MacDonald) was the front-stepper in the matching Preferred 2 Trot, leading the way past panels of :29.1, :58.2 and 1:27.4, but he couldn’t hold off 3-1 second choice Bank President and Allard. Bank President moved first over from fourth before the three-quarters mark and kicked home in :29.2 to catch the leader at the wire. The six-year-old son of Keystone Nordic-Bank By Phone won by a quarter-length in 1:57.3. The pocket-sitting Suited (Phil Hudon) finished one length back in third.
Bank President is trained by Shawn Robinson for Ian Fromowitz of Richmond Hill, ON and Gerrie Tucker of Montreal, QC. He has earned $92,290 of his $176,452 bankroll this season with four wins in 21 starts.
