Rose Run Keepsake Ties Canadian Record
Rose Run Keepsake put her name in the Canadian record books on Tuesday night at Mohawk Racetrack when she equaled the nation’s fastest trotting mile ever for a female trotter with a sparkling 1:52.1 victory
.
The four-year-old daughter of Armbro Laser-Suchanicegirl, who was making her first start locally for trainer Ben Wallace, sat in fifth spot for much of the mile and watched All Cantab lay down splits of :27.3, :56 and 1:24.3.
As the field turned for home, driver Paul MacDonell tipped Rose Run Keepsake out into the three-wide path and, with ground-devouring strides, she sailed past All Cantab who just edged out Yursa Hanover for the show spot. The win came in upset fashion with Rose Run Keepsake returning $29.60 for the win.
Rose Run Keepsake had been competing under the care of Randall Bendis at The Meadows where she had won five of 12 starts this season, mostly at the top level. Her clocking on Tuesday night equaled the previous Canadian standard which had been established by the great Peaceful Way and later matched by Spare Time Rozie.
Reed Broadway and Diane Novosel of Ohio share ownership of the mare along with James Walton of Michigan. She is one of 23 mares who remain eligible to the Armbro Flight Stakes, which features eliminations (if necessary) on Friday, July 16. The $365,000 (est.) final goes on Saturday, July 24.

Really thought Jersey AS
Really thought Jersey AS would have been a monster upsetter but broke stride.
Very nice mile though.
