Major Hottie Takes Mohawk Preferred

Winning Saturday’s $34,000 Preferred Pace at Mohawk Racetrack wound up being a piece of cake for Major Hottie, who marched to the lead and made two left turns en route to prevailing in 1:49.3

.

The victory, which one of four on the card for driver Chris Christoforou, was earned in gate-to-wire fashion over Dali (Luc Ouellette) and The Mohegan Pan (Steve Condren).

Major Hottie threw down panels of :26.3, :55.2 and 1:23.1 before halting the teletimer in 1:49.3, which ties him for being the second fastest performance in the history of the sport by a free-legged pacer. He holds the World Record in that department thanks to his 1:48.3 triumph in the Open class on May 29, 2010.

Larocque Racing Stb Inc of Thornhill, ON claimed the pacer for $40,000 earlier this season and entrusted him with trainer Steve Charlton. His record sits at 7-2-7 from 20 starts this season, and his overall earnings currently sit at $326,867.

Chris Christoforou wasn’t the only teamster to enjoy a solid night at the office - so did Sylvain Filion. The Quebec native took the checkered flag on four occasions, and in three of those instances he scored with horses sent out by trainer Richard Moreau.
