Hanover Preferred To Chasin Jiffy

Chasin Jiffy took full advantage of his pole position starting spot in Saturday’s $9,000 Preferred-3 Pace at Hanover Raceway on Saturday, with the end result being a 1:55 victory for owner Kim Mahon of Owen Sound, Ontario

.

With Terry Fritz at the lines, Chasin Jiffy led the field to the quarter pole in a :28-second clip before going toe-to-toe with Cammisrazmataz (Trevor Henry) at the half in :58.1. After a nice second quarter breather, Chasin Jiffy rebuffed the first-over challenge by Cammisrazmataz and regained a short lead over that rival at the three-quarter pole in 1:26.1.

A :28.4 final quarter was more than enough for Chasin Jiffy to finish off his foes. The six-year-old son of Village Jiffy-Sincerely drew clear to win by 2-1/4 lengths over runner-up Goshenlineexpress (Bruce Richardson). Finishing third was Eye Of Desire (Scott Young).

Mahon’s homebred, who went 7-for-25 last year, is now 2-for-7 this season with earnings in excess of $11,000 for the 2010 campaign. His career bankroll climbed to $109,012 with the tally.
