Summerside Hosts Canada Day Event
Red Shores at Summerside is ready to launch an exciting 14-dash Canada Day card of harness racing featuring the Canada Day Pace, Canada Day Trot, the annual Winnipeg Mile and a host of exciting promotions
for customers. Post time is 1 p.m.
The first presentation comes in Race 4 when Windsong Gaillard, listed as the morning line favourite, leaves off the rail for driver Joey Pineau and co-owners Myron Ford, Charlottetown and John Pineau of Hunter River. The trotter has earned two top three finishes from four starts. The three-year-old gelding will have to hold off Keiths Daisy, who won her two qualifying sessions for trainer Willis Silliker, and JK Queen, with driver Joe Smallwood. Saulsbrook Jive, Scarlet Extreme and Harmony Gal complete the field.
The fourth annual Winnipeg Mile goes to post in Race 9 with Platonic, from the Darren Trainer stable, getting the nod for top choice. Mark Bradley will drive the mare, who has the fastest chartline among the starters. Larry and Dolorese Reid will be trackside for the presentation.
The afternoon’s feature presentation will enter the racetrack on Race 13. Life Savior, fresh off a second place finish in the Cecil Ladner Memorial Consolation, has drawn the rail. Trainer Duane MacEachern calls in driver Corey MacPherson this week while regular pilots Marc Campbell and Mike Stevenson are driving in stakes events in Fredericton, N.B.
Pans O Silver is favorite to win the match when the nine-year-old, trained by Alex MacPhee, hooks up with multiple winner Seannee Lad and Norris Rogers from Post 6. The star studded cast also includes Rebelryan, Chester the Name, Canaco Paso and Fleet Officer.
