Horsepeople Hitting The Links
The time of horse racing golf tournaments and outings is officially upon us. After much time away, many tend to reunite over chip shots and cool beverages. That doesn't solely pertain to horsemen, though, just ask
Meadowlands Racetrack Announcer Ken Warkentin.
An article by the Asbury Park Press explains how Warkentin, Monmouth Park Announcer Larry Collmus and former newspaper handicapper and horse owner Ron Goldman were recently grouped during an outing at the Pebble Creek Golf Course.
The day was part of an informal weekly outing of horse racing industry employees, mostly from Monmouth Park, which serves as a fantastic bonding event.
"It's kind of cool that Larry and I play together here once a week," said Warkentin, who added that he didn't know Collmus until they started to partake in the golfing outings together.
"It's a good mix of different people from around the track," Collmus was quoted as saying. "You get jockeys, trainers, backstretch guys, all different types of people. And it's a nice thing on the day off."
