Returning to Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs after three starts at the Meadowlands, George Napolitano Jr. made a quarter pole move to the front to take the lead from Gallant Yankee (Todd Schadel). Opening quarter was clicked off in :26.2.
Four Starz Sue took the seven-horse field to the half in :54.1 and three-quarters in 1:22 before winning by 2-3/4 lengths over Special Report (Larry Stalbaum) with third-place going to Gallant Yankee, three lengths back.
Trained by Carmine Fusco, Four Starz Sue was winning for the third time in 12 starts in 2010 and the seven-year-old pacing gelding pushed his life earnings to near the $500,000 mark. The race was for non-winners of $11,350 last five starts or 11 extended pari-mutuels races life.
In a $25,000 claiming pace Saturday evening, it was Year Of The Dragon (Tony Morgan) storming down the stretch to beat The Quiet Village (Jim Morrill Jr.) and Whythehellnot N (Stalbaum) with the clocking reading 1:52.2.
Year Of The Dragon, trained by Michael Rashkin, was a 16-1 longshot in this race.
Napolitano Jr., the meet’s leading driver, completed the 16-race card with a total of eight wins.
