Second Purse Increase At Hoosier

Hoosier Park Racing & Casino announced a second purse increase effective Saturday, June 19 for the remainder of the 2010 standardbred racing season, which continues through Sunday, July 11

.

The second purse increase for the standardbred season comes only 20 days after a purse increase was implemented May 31. Both purse increases have affected the purse structure on an average of 15% for all overnight purses, moving the biggest growth over the middle portion of the purse structure.

“With less than 20 days of live racing left in our 2010 season, we are pleased to announce a second purse increase on all of our overnight races,” said Kevin Mack, standardbred racing secretary. “We have held fewer races per program this year compared to last year. Also, a portion of money relegated to the purse account has not been utilized due to the use of Indiana Sires Stakes events. These races are directly funded by the Indiana Standardbred Breed Development program. It is very rewarding to see the Indiana horse racing industry’s significant growth this year. Hoosier Park will continue to work with the Indiana Standardbred Association (ISA) and horsemen to provide the best program possible for the horsemen.”
