Quando Sets Hiawatha Record

Quando became the fastest trotting mare in the history of Hiawatha Horse Park when she toured the oval in an impressive clocking of 1:56.3 on Thursday evening

.

The record-setting performance shaved one-fifth of a second off the former mark of 1:56.4 set by Betonandrea back in 2008.

Quando, despite being parked every step of the mile, but dug in late and drew away to win by 4-1/2 lengths for driver Allen Tomlinson and owner/trainer Kara Buxton of Leslie, MI. Bacio Hanover was second best and third prize went to Red Neck Style.

The seven-year-old daughter of Davanti now owns a 3-2-0 record in her first seven starts of the 2010 campaign. The 20-time winner has banked $99,647 to date.
