Classy Trotter Puts Best Foot Forward

It isn't very often when you see a trotter put in a 1:52.4 mile, yet be in to qualify a week later. That was the case this morning at Mohawk Racetrack, where a horse nearing a career milestone was putting his best foot

forward.

Eight-year-old Glory B River horse Chick N Tell kicked off this morning's eight-race qualifying session with a wire-to-wire performance for driver Jody Jamieson and trainer Stephen Doyle.

After having left from Post 7, Chick N Tell cut the fractions in :28.3, :57.1 and 1:26 before scooting off to a nine and a half-length win in 1:55.1.

Racing at odds of 9-1 during a May 24 Open Trot at Mohawk Racetrack, Chick N Tell went first-up against Canada's reigning Older Trotter of the Year, San Pail. Chick N Tell grinded his way right up into contention in second, but jumped it off very late in the lane.

The career winner of 39 races would finish third in the race and cover his mile in a solid 1:52.4. San Pail's win time of 1:52.2 equalled Canada's fastest trotting mile of the year, which is still currently standing.

With a pair of wins from 11 starts this season, Chick N Tell is looking to get closer to an approaching milestone. The veteran is less than $63,000 away from reaching the $1 million mark in career earnings.
