Archie Campbell Passes
Former horse owner and racing enthusiast Archie Campbell of Lower Sackville, NS passed away at the Victoria General Hospital on the morning of Sunday, May 30
after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 72.
Campbell could be found at any racetrack in the Maritimes, especially at Inverness or Truro and simulcast outlets in Halifax.
He owned several horses over the years, including Fancy Kash at Sackville Downs, Island Le Baron and Chevalier Hanover, who was trained and driven by Gary MacDonald at Truro and Charlottetown.
Before his illness, Campbell was contemplating and looking forward to a return to the ownership aspect of racing for the 2010 season.
Campbell was a Brother in Law of Port Hood horseman Alex Sutherland, Jr.
Visitation will be taking place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2 at Atlantic Funeral Home, Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville. Funeral services for Campbell will take place at St. John Vianny Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, June 3 at 2:00 p.m.
Campbell will be missed by all his racing friends at Truro and Inverness Raceway. May he rest in peace.
