Purse Increase At Hoosier
Hoosier Park today announced a purse increase, effective Sunday, May 30, for the remainder of the 2010 standardbred racing season, which continues through
Sunday, July 11.
An average of 15% will now be recognized on all overnight purses.
“As we head into the final 30 race days of standardbred racing for 2010, we are pleased to announce a purse increase on all of our overnight races,” said Jeff Smith, general manager of racing. “Business levels have exceeded our expectations during the first 47 nights of racing, allowing us to reward our horsemen with this increase. All overnight categories will see the effect of the added money into the races.”
The purse structure was greatly elevated by added money from casino operations heading into the 2010 racing season. Total purse distribution will now average over $142,000 per day for the meet.
“This increase is a great example of the significant growth in our Indiana horse racing industry,” said Smith. “Hoosier Park has worked closely with the Indiana Standardbred Association (ISA) and horsemen through this process. We appreciate their hard work and support of our racing program.”
