Clark’s Girls Take Three
Horses trained and driven by Keith Clark dominated the second half of Wednesday’s 10-race program at Alberta Downs including three fillies he handles himself
.
In the fifth race, three-year-old Camystic filly Wrangler Raine left from Post 8 and went wire-to-wire finishing off her rivals with a :26.4 final frame. She won in 1:58 by 2-1/4 lengths. Another sophomore daughter of Camystic won for Clark, this time leaving from the rail in the eighth race. W Jean, who finished second in front of Wrangler Raine in last year’s Battle of Alberta Super Final, led every step of the way en route to a 1:58.4 with a 2-1/2 length margin of victory. Both fillies recorded their first wins of the year.
Pure Movement, a six-year-old Artiscape mare, was up next for the De Winton, Alberta horseman. She rallied from fifth with a :28.1 final frame to take the next race in 1:57 by 1-1/2 lengths. Pure Movement has won three of her last four starts in Clark’s care.
Clark's training triple bumped his 2010 win total to 66 and earnings to over $424,000.
The veteran horseman also drove the Lee Barton-trained Life Of Rocknroll to a 1:55.4 victory in the sixth race. The Post 8 starter led from start to finish to prevail by a neck over the pocket-sitter Prime Time Bliss and his trainer Don Monkman Jr.
