Summerside Season To Kick Off Wednesday
The 2010 season of live harness action at Red Shores at Summerside Raceway is ready to launch Wednesday night. Four divisions of the Ruby Chappell Memorial Stakes for three-year-old fillies will be featured
.
First-race post time for the 12-dash event is 7:00 p.m.
Meridian Magic will headline the first division (Race 5) of the Ruby Chappell for owners Barry Martin and James Gillis, Sydney Mines, N.S. The award winning filly, who banked over $76,000 in purse money, will be re-united with 2009 Maritime dash king and money earner Kenny Arsenault from Post 4. The other morning line favorites in this division are Oceanview Connie for owner Danny Ross of Belfast, PE and Elm Grove Ella for trainer-driver Clare MacDonald.
Shesa Mint has been installed as the 5-2 morning line favourite for the second division (Race 7). Mike McGuigan, who handles the training duties for the ownership group, has listed the services of Bradley for the match up against Bettim Laura, who stepped to an impressive victory for trainer-driver Jeff Lilley at Fredericton Raceway. The daughter of Largo has drawn the rail in the same division.
CH Yocoohno is the 5-2 morning line favorite in the third division (Race 9) of the Ruby Chappell for owners Bill Hogg, Charlottetown and John Melanson, Stanley Bridge. Hey Jean, from the Blair Hansen stable of Charlottetown, and We B Success, owned by Riley Farms Ltd- Earith Riley, Summerside, are also leading candidates.
Scootingforsuccess is favoured to win the final division (Race 11) for owner Walter Simmons, Summerside, driver Darren Crowe and trainer Wade Sorrie.
