Gro Formia guided Goldstarlook N up the passing lane for a rallying victory in a claiming handicap trot at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs on Friday night as part of the Mildred Williams Ladies Driving Series

Goldstarlook N was able to work out a pocket trip behind pacesetter K M Sweet Dreams. In the stretch, Formia led the gelding into the inside passing lane for a close win in 1:59.4. K M Sweet Dreams, driven by Stacey McLenaghan, finished second, and You Go Girl, driven by Leah Vandervort, picked up the show.

All of the drivers’ purse earnings for the race are being donated to the Northeast affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure, a charity designed to fight breast cancer. In addition, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs and the Pennsylvania Harness Horseman’s Association donated $1,500 each to the cause.

The Mildred Williams Driving Series is contested at over 40 tracks across North America. The women drivers donate their winnings at each stop and amass points in the series with each good performance. The series honors the late Mildred Williams, known as the “First Lady of Harness Racing” for her contributions to the sport.

Others drivers taking part in the race include Megan Fortna, Doreen Dailey, Stacy Chiodo, Lynn Fry, Ann Larsen, and Linda Schadel.
