Boinga Captures Windylane Hanover
Boinga popped out of the pocket and surged past the tired leader to win the $54,000 Windylane Hanover final on Thursday night at the Meadowlands
.
Boinga took the early lead before yielding to Special Appeal before the half-mile marker in :56. She angled out past the three-quarter marker, easily past the favourite Special Appeal and held off the late-rallying Jettalady for a two-length victory. Boinga trotted to a career-best 1:55
and paid $4.60 to win.
"She seems to be better if you can kind of just one-run her," said winning driver David Miller. "I used her pretty hard to get out front and I just let her keep on truckin' up there and she did come up a little soft. I was surprised I got by her [Special Appeal] as easy as I did. I thought she'd give a little more of a fight."
Boinga completed a sweep of the Windylane Hanover after capturing both preliminary legs of the series. Boinga has now won 4 of 15 career starts and $96,972. The three-year-old Windsongs Legacy filly is owned by Anthony and Carol Risi and Bernard O'Brien.
