'Cookie Boy's Owners Loving The Ride

It started out as banter over a few beverages at a local watering hole, but when all was eventually said and done, a group of four New Brunswickers came together as owners of a Largo gelding, and they couldn't be happier

An article in today's edition of The Daily Gleaner sheds light on William Watts, Dag Seymour, Mark Seymour and Gregory Hughes, whose 15-time winner Melodys Cookie Boy will help lift the curtain on another racing meet tonight at Fredericton Raceway.

Melodys Cookie Bay has drawn Post 1 in Race 8. The 11-dash card will get underway at 7:00 p.m.

"He's paying for his oats right now," said Hughes. "We didn't get in it to make any money, It's just for the sheer enjoyment of it. If he wins, it pays for his expenses and vet bills and things."

Hughes went on to say, "we don't do sports any more, so it's a good hobby. It's cheaper than playing the lottery, and it's more fun."
