Poof Shes Gone Romps In Return
Champion trotting filly Poof Shes Gone picked up right where she left in her rookie campaign with an impressive 1:55.3 victory in one of two $40,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Eliminations for three-year-old filly trotters on
Monday night at Woodbine Racetrack.
The other split went to Wilsonator, who was just two ticks slower, stopping the clock in 1:56.
Poof Shes Gone, making her 2010 debut in the opening elimination, sat off the speed in sixth in the early stages but methodically made her way into a striking position turning for home. At that point, driver David Miller tipped the filly three wide and she trotted powerfully to victory over longshot Magic Treasure with Emmylou Who rounding out the top three.
The daughter of Kadabra-Travelin Superlite is now 11 for 13 in her career for trainer Richard ‘Nifty’ Norman and pushed her bankroll to almost $1.1 million for owners Mel Hartman and John Fielding of Ontario and Herb Liverman and David McDuffee of Florida.
Wilsonator used different tactics in the second elimination for driver Sylvain Filion as she wired the field, using a :27.4 final frame to hold off a charging Random Destiny with Renees Pockets finishing a close third.
The daughter of Kadabra-Sahalee was a force in the Ontario Sires Stakes last season, winning three of 12 and banking close to $250,000 for owners Michael Pozefsky of New York and Ed Wilson of Ontario. Monday’s race was also the first start of the season for the filly who is trained by Rob Fellows.
The $130,000 final of the OSS Gold Series will be contested as part of Fireworks and Family Fun Night next Sunday at Mohawk Racetrack.
