Card Shark Krazy Wires Buffalo Open

Card Shark Krazy, a five-year-old Cams Card Shark offspring out of the Western Hanover mare Bandolera Hanover, won the $9,000 Open Handicap Pace in 1:55.2 to register his first win of the year for owner-trainer Laurie Patistas at Buffalo Raceway Saturday night

Card Shark Krazy ($35.40), the second longest shot on the board, left hard from the rail with driver Jimmy Whisman at the controls. The duo made every pole a winning one, setting all the fractions in the race, :28.1, :57, and 1:26.1 A :29 last quarter-mile put the winner a head in front of second place finisher Nifty Prescott (Ken Holliday) at the finish line. Last week's Open winner, Cry For Cash (Ron Beback Jr.), came in third.

“Laurie said to put him on the lead, and that’s exactly what I did,” said Whisman.

The $4,500 share of the winning purse put Card Shark Krazy’s season's bankroll at $10,679, and $65,006 lifetime.
