Dusty Lane Shelby Wires CDP Open Trot
Driver Corey MacPherson sent Dusty Lane Shelby to the lead and never looked back en route to victory in the $1,400 Open Handicap Trot at the Charlottetown Driving Park
on Saturday.
Dusty Lane Shelby left from Post 3 and clicked off fractions of :30, 1:00 and 1:30.4 before hitting the wire in 2:01.4, three lengths ahead of her nearest rival. Katies Victory (Ken Murphy) survived an overland journey to finish second ahead of the pocket-sitting Hopedale Last Bill (Joey Pineau).
The daughter of Imperial Angus-Dusty Lane Nipper returned $9.00 to win as the 7-2 fourth choice. Mitchell Tierney trains eight-year-old mare, who recorded her first win of the season in two starts, for owner Jaime Lynne Tierney of Cornwall, PE. Lifetime, Dusty Lane Shelby has won 23 times and has earned $36,284.
Pans O Silver and driver Brodie MacPhee pulled off a 13-1 upset in the $2,200 top pacing event when he rallied from off the pace to score in 1:57.3 by over nine lengths. The nine-year-old son of Pans To Reason-Silverwood Diane is owned, trained and bred by Cornwall's Alex Brodie. The win was Pans O Silver's second of the season in eight starts.
