Youth Camp Positions Filled
The Ontario Horse Racing Youth Camp Committee is happy to announce the successful applicants to co-ordinate and manage the delivery of this very popular
program for 2010.
Returning for the fourth year as camp coordinator is Liz Waples. Waples has an extensive understanding of the camp and what is required to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
Joining Liz this year will be two new members to the team. Natasha Lyon will be acting as the youth camp instructor. With over 10 years experience in harness racing, Lyon also is a Certified Equestrian instructor and has achieved her National Coaching Certification. Completing the team is Stacey Reinsma who will be the caretaker for the four youth camp horses. Reinsma is a student at the University of Waterloo with over six years grooming experience acquired while working with the Paul Taylor stable.
The committee would like to thank all those who expressed an interest in filling these roles.
The horse racing youth camps are offered free at tracks across Ontario during the summer months. Open to children 10-13 years old, the four-day camps offer an interactive opportunity for children to learn about caring for horses and the sport of harness racing. The first camp is scheduled for June 10-13 at Clinton Raceway.
