Doris Emma Young (nee Carter) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 12 at Caressant Care Nursing Home, in Harriston, Ont. She was in her 83rd year

Cherished wife of the late Herbert, beloved mother of Julie (Morris Looby), Jill (Gino Giancola) and Lorrie (Blair Keeling). Sadly missed by grandchildren Todd, Sandra, Alan, Adrian, Carla, Jennifer, and Stephanie. Great-grandmother of Liam, Grace and William. Loving sister of Reg (preceased).

Doris and Herb raced horses for over 45 years at locations throughout Quebec, Ontario and New York State. She was there when Herb won his first race as a driver at Old Dufferin Park.

At 60 years of age, Doris received the Groom of the Year Award in 1986 at Orangeville Raceway.

Family will receive friends at Simes Funeral Home, Main St. Grand Valley, Ont. on Sunday, May 23 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial service to celebrate her life at 2:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
