Braden & Fluet In The Spotlight At Tioga
Corey Braden and Phil Fluet had themselves good nights on Saturday, May 8 at Tioga Downs; three winners for Braden on the night including the co-featured $14,000 Class A Handicap Trot with Jon Win and a division of the $7,500 Kenneth J Pacing Series with Upto, and five driving victories for Fluet
.
Braden sent Jon Win to the front for trainer Jeff Long and stung last week’s winner Yankee Nola (Jim Marohn Jr.) to the quarter in :28.4. Braden then used Marohn to draft through the brisk head winds throughout the mile before pulling the pocket down the lane to win by more than a length in 1:56.4. The mile was a new lifetime mark for the five-year-old son of Chip Chip Hooray-Melinda Hall.
In the third and final division of the Kenneth J pacing series, Braden sat off of cover throughout the mile and paced home in the stretch with Upto. Braden co-owns the three-year-old son of Three Olives-Happi Macki with William Carter and Nancy Carter of Delaware. Colby Hubble trains Upto, who posted his first victory of 2010 in 1:55.1, which was the fastest race of the night, and also a new lifetime mark.
Phil Fluet also had a huge night with five driving victories, including three of which he also trains (Major Work Of Art, Armbro Claret and Talkaboutjoy).
