New Mark For Chancey Lady
For the second week in a row, millionairess Chancey Lady rallied off cover to win the $32,000 Mares Invitational at the Meadowlands Racetrack, but this time she established a new lifetime mark of 1:49.4
.
Sportsfancy (Brian Sears) was the one to track down as she led the field through hot fractions of :26.2, :53.2 and 1:21.3, and that is just what 4-5 favourite Chancey Lady did. The O’Brien Award winning Camluck mare sat in sixth position until she picked up cover from Tug River Princess (John Campbell) at the midway point. Tug River Princess wore down the leader in the stretch but driver Tim Tetrick sent Chancey Lady wide and she swept past for the 1-1/4 length victory thanks to a :27.4 final frame. The time of the mile is also the fastest in North America this season for aged pacing mares.
Run On Luck (Andy Miller) rallied for second with Tug River Princess finishing third.
Chancey Lady returned $3.80 in earning her fourth win in 11 starts this year. The five-year-old Mark Kesmodel pupil has banked $111,700 so far this season for the Estate of Niele A Jiwan of Surrey, BC. Lifetime, she has earned 25 victories and over $1.36 million in earnings.
