Ehrlich: They're Screwing Around

Former Maryland Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. yesterday offered some blunt quotes in regard to the state's efforts to get slot-machine gaming legalized in the state

.

"We can't get slots straight," Ehrlich told reporters after a guest lecture he gave to students at Towson University, suggesting that the question of table games will not "be ripe" until that happens.

According to a report by The Washington Post, Ehrlich, who made an unsuccessful push for the legalization of slots in the state when he was governor, said that he would be "open to conversation" about legalizing Las Vegas-style table games in Maryland if he were voted back in as governor.

Although he said that he would consider the table gaming if he were back in power in the state, Ehrlich said that the state first has to address the slots issue.

"We can't get slots straight," Ehrlich said. The article then cites Ehrlich as suggesting that the question of table games will not "be ripe" until that happens.

During the lecture, Ehrlich had even harsher words for the state's efforts on slots during the Townson University lecture, as he said, "All they're doing is screwing around with it" and that the effort has "made us look silly."
