DSBF Finals Headline Dover’s Closer
Four $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) Three-Year-Old finals for pacing and trotting colts and geldings highlight the final card
of Dover Downs' 41st season on Thursday.
Superbad Hanover and Ross Wolfenden, with two DSBF preliminary leg wins, The Wiz Kids Stable's prelim winner Golden Gladiator reined by Tony Morgan, Louie Paglierani's Lou's Bad Yankee, with a first and second with Jim Morand and Scout Hanover racing for Trevor Donaldson and Ben Stafford with Ben Stafford, Jr. won a prelim and drew the rail in the Colt and Gelding final.
In the $100,000 DSBF Colt Trot finale, the one to beat is Mike Gannon's Par Don My Putt. Windy Donaway will sit behind the trotter, who was a winner in both of his prelims and last Fall’s $100,000 freshman final at Harrington. John and Pat Moore's Super Delegate (Eddie Moore) leaves from Post 1while Sal Sciarrino's Wygant Knight (Tony Morgan), a prelim winner, is burdened by Post 8.
In the $100,000 Filly Pace, trainer George Teague, Jr. starts three - No Bad Luck (Montrell Teague), Model Legs (Corey Callahan) and Naughty Indeed (Morand). Sucha Bad Girl (Morgan), and Clarence Staats' Briteolive (Eddie Dennis) have a win and a second in prelims.
Rounding out the lineup are the Bryan Truitt's Iosmio, Bill Steinbaecher's Lets Get Fizzical (Wolfenden) also a prelim winner and John Croddick's Badlands Kate (Art Stafford, Jr.).
There are two entries in the DSBF Filly trot - one owned by Nanticoke Racing features Miss Snazz (Morand) from the rail and entrymate Status Symbol owned by Delbert and Mike Cain and Nanticoke Racing. The other pair is Newman Racing's My Command To You (Hanners) and Golden Secret (Mike Cole), both also owned by Winbak Farm. Not to be overlooked is Marvin Meyer's Punks Embrace (Vince Copeland), with a first and second in prelims.
Dover Downs, its management and horsemen thank one and all for their support during the 2009-2010 meet. Delaware live racing resumes on Sunday at Harrington Raceway. Dover Downs racing begins its 2010-2011 campaign in November.
