Rosecroft's License Extended
“We live to fight another day,” Sharon Roberts, executive director of Cloverleaf Standardbred Owners Association, Rosecroft Raceway's parent company, was quoted
as saying yesterday.
Her quotes, taken from an article by The Daily Record came yesterday after she learned that the Maryland Racing Commission had voted 5-1 to approve Rosecroft Raceway’s racing license through July 1.
The article states that Rosecroft prospective purchaser Mark Vogel has put $350,000 up front as a loan to keep the track, which has recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, afloat. The Cloverleaf Standardbred Owners Association has also reportedly loaned $150,000 in order to keep the track operational until July 1.
On Monday, state legislators voted against legislation which would have seen a public referendum as to whether poker and card games should be legalized at the track.
The Daily Record article also states that Rosecroft is attempting to reach an agreement with Ocean Downs owner William Rickman, Jr. to host Ocean Downs' June dates at Rosecroft.
