UPDATE - Multi-Horse Spill At Rideau

A nasty-looking accident saw four horses fall in Race 3 on Sunday evening at Rideau Carleton Raceway

.

Milliondollarjen was advancing first-over in front of the grandstand for driver Stephane Gendron, and just as the field was going into the turn she made a break which caused massive confusion to challengers in the backfield.

Yakata (Denis St. Pierre) and More Dreams (Ted McDonald) were fortunate to dodge the breaker, but three others weren’t so lucky. Kakafala (Philippe Laframboise) collided with Milliondollarjen and Blissfull Boogie (Yves Filion) couldn’t avoid running into Kakafala. Laframboise and Filion were both ejected from their bikes.

Phoenix Bearcat also got tangled up and fell, but driver Phil Price, Jr. managed to stay in the bike. Yes No Maybeso, who was trailing the field, was diverted into the safety lane by driver Darrell Coville, who simply pulled his charge up at that point.

"Phil Laframboise was transported by ambulance to an Ottawa hospital," said Terry Lantz, Rideau Carleton Raceway's Director of Racing and Racing Secretary. "He was in a neck brace and on a backboard, but was moving his arms and legs. The other drivers were stiff, but okay. All of the horses returned to the paddock with some cuts, but nothing too serious."

Lantz has since told Trot Insider Laframboise is in stable condition, but there were no details on the extent of the reinsman's injuries.
