Mason Pupils Click At EPR

New Brunswick horseman Stephen Mason doubled his seasonal win totals this afternoon at Exhibition Park Raceway when he guided three of his pupils, all owned by the Downey Stables of Saint John, to victory

Mason first sent the favoured Ben Down, a four-year-old Mantorious gelding, three-wide at the half and claimed the lead from Ryans Fancy (Sam Hodgin) to score in a life’s-best 2:02.4 by nearly four lengths in his fourth race conditioner.

One race later, five-year-old Million Dollar Cam gelding Million Dollardown made his first start back in Mason’s care and went wire-to-wire, stopping the clock in 2:01.1 with a four and a half length advantage on the field.

After being placed first in the seventh race for $3,000 claimers, Emily J Down (2:01.4), a five-year-old Drop Off mare, now sports a perfect two wins on her 2010 record for Mason.

Mason now sports six driving and training wins in 14 starts this season, giving him a Udrs of .468.
