Ricoh Canada To Sponsor WEG Race

Ricoh Canada Inc. and Woodbine Entertainment Group today announced a two-year agreement in which the technology company will sponsor one of Woodbine's key

thoroughbred turf races.

The Highlander Stakes, the complement feature on Woodbine's Queen's Plate card annually, will now be known as the Highlander Stakes, presented by Ricoh.

The Highlander, presented by Ricoh, a Grade 2, six-furlong grass race, will have its 57th running on July 4 in 2010.

"Ricoh Canada Inc. is very pleased to partner with Woodbine Entertainment Group," said Ricoh Canada Vice-President of Marketing David Armstrong. "Sponsoring a race on a high-profile day like Queen's Plate Day falls directly in line with the kind of exciting relationship opportunities that Ricoh has always been associated with, such as our sponsorship of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games."

"We are very pleased to add the Ricoh name to the Highlander Stakes," said WEG Vice-President of Media Relations and Sponsorship Glenn Crouter. "Our marketing partnership with Ricoh, an excellent, high profile company, adds to Woodbine Entertainment Group's already impressive stable of sponsors, such as Budweiser, Labatt Breweries of Canada, The Pepsi Bottling Group, Pattison Outdoor Advertising, Sharp Electronics of Canada Ltd., Ontario Tourism, and VTech Telecommunications Canada Ltd."
