An Angel For Earl Is Full Of Trot

An Angel For Earl proved that at the age of 13 years old he still has it. The veteran trotter captured the Full Of Trot Trotting Series final Friday night at Rideau Carleton Raceway in wire-to-wire fashion

.

The son of Earl-Furys Angel won his first leg division just over two weeks ago giving him four in a row. He then followed up his victory with a second-place effort to Armbro Acme in round two.

In tonight’s $15,700 finale, An Angel For Earl left from Post 2 with regular reinsman John MacDonald in the bike and settled on top while his rival, the slight favourite Armbro Acme (Guy Gagnon), tucked into the two-hole.

Looking for a series sweep, Chip Dot Com (Sandy Jones) launched a first over attack from fifth after the :28.4 first quarter and pressed the pacesetter past the half in 1:00.4. Chip Dot Com only managed to get within a half-length of the lead before An Angel For Earl shook him off as they approached the three-quarters mark of 1:31.1.

Armbro Acme pulled the pocket in the stretch and made an exciting finish as he missed by just a half-length. An Angel For Earl took the top prize winning in 2:01.3. Second leg winner Cowboys Like Us (Stephane Pouliot) came in third.

An Angel For Earl returned $6.80 to win as the 2-1 second choice. He has won seven of his 10 starts this season banking $27,475 for owner and trainer Travis Morgan. The win was his 44th lifetime and pushed his earnings to $388,461.
