Busy Morning Of Big M Qualifiers
More big names were in action at the Meadowlands on Thursday morning, as the New Jersey oval played host to an 11-pack of qualifiers

Classic Lane was a qualifying winner for the second week-in-a-row for trainer Ed Lohmeyer. Tim Tetrick guided her to a 1:56.2 win one week ago, and John Campbell went a winning mile in 1:56 earlier this morning with the five-year-old daughter of Lindy Lane. She was the O’Brien Award winner as Canada’s Trotting Mare of the Year in 2009 thanks in large part to her nose decision in the $353,710 final of the Classic Oaks at Mohawk Racetrack. The 14-time winner will be looking to add to a bankroll of $725,776.
Cuz She Can was a 1:54.2 winner in her qualifier for the tandem of driver Tim Tetrick and trainer Ronnie Burke. The five-year-old Cambest miss, who owns a 1-2-0 record from three starts this season, hadn’t raced since finishing second in the Mares Invitational Pace at the Meadowlands. The 15-time winner has stashed away more than $432,000 in earnings.
Ideal Danny and Dial Or Nodial finished first and second in the eleventh qualifier of the day. They paced their respective miles in 1:53.3 and 1:53.4.
Ideal Danny, who was driven by David Miller for trainer Ken Rucker, was making his second appearance of the season. In last week’s first prep of the season he finished fourth and was race-timed in 1:54.3. The four-year-old son of Western Ideal won a division of the Burlington Stakes last summer at Mohawk Racetrack en route to banking in excess $142,000.
Dial Or Nodial, who hasn’t raced since finishing eighth in last October’s Breeders Crown final at Woodbine Racetrack, was making his first appearance of 2010 for trainer Jim Campbell. The four-year-old son of Western Ideal, who put away more than $373,000 last season, has banked $802,792 to date for owners Arlene and Jules Siegel of New Hope, PA.
Southwestern Dream turned in the fastest mile of the session when he stepped to a 1:53.1 in the final qualifier for trainer John Campbell and trainer Bruce Saunders. The Bruce Saunders-trained five-year-old son of Cambest, who took a 1:48.2 record at the Meadowlands in 2009, is a 20-time winner who has yet to win in seven trips postward this season.
