Roy Stumpf Passes

Trot Insider has learned that horseman Roy Karl Stumpf passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 20 at KW Health Centre of Grand River Hospital after fighting a very strong battle against cancer for over a year

.

Roy, who was born and raised in the Bridgeport Community, is the son of the Late Edward and Irene (Shedewitz) Stumpf.

Stumpf leaves behind his three children; his son, Herb, daughters Shannon Deckers and her husband Mike Joseph, and Becky Stumpf. Grandfather of Tabitha, Nicole and Tia Deckers, Sophia and Sylvia Torak and great-grandfather of Braeden Hogarth.

Stumpf, a figure around the racetracks and Kitchener Stock Yards, is survived by sister Bernice Eunson (late William Eunson) and nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in early June at Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home & Chapel (519-742-4481), 51 Benton St., Kitchener, Ont.

The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Grand River Hospital for their excellent care of Roy -- he was very appreciative of it all.
