Silver Reign Final To Pebble Creek
Pebble Creek swept from off the pace to capture the $60,000 Silver Reign Pacing Series final for three-year-old fillies on Monday at Woodbine Racetrack
.
Mike Saftic had the daughter of Modern Art-Hayser Creek sitting well back in eighth position in the early portions of the mile before coming to the outside to follow cover. The lead would change hands four times before the three-quarters with Pebble Creek eventually finding herself second on the outside, without cover, as the field reached the third marker.
As they straightened up for home, Saftic called on his filly for more and she responded by kicking into another gear and easily overhauling race leader Sweetsunsetspecial. Pebble Creek would widen her margin on the field with Kims Quest shaking loose late to grab the place spot and longshot Putnam MacKenzie picking up the show spot.
Pebble Creek returned $10.30 in the mild upset win.
The filly is a younger half-sister to $3,815,924 winner Boulder Creek. The victory was her fourth in eight starts this year and boosted her career bankroll to just over $93,000 for owners Debbie and Barry Bird of Harwood, Ontario.
