Claimapalooza At Mohawk Park

Claiming action was hot and heavy Monday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park as the oval hosted the opening leg of the Pop Up Series for $8,500 claiming pacers.

No Time At All was a wire-to-wire winner in his $11,000 division for the tandem of driver Jody Jamieson and trainer Courtney Bishop.

Jamieson got away fifth with the seven-year-old son of Big Jim-Shirley Hall who watched Its Eds Idea roll the field through fractions of :29.1, :57.1 and 1:25.4. No Time At All commenced a first-over rally on the way to the three-quarter pole and his :30.3 closing quarter was enough to pull off the win by 1-1/4 lengths over Its Eds Idea in 1:58. Shadow Me Themoney was third.

Courtney Bishop, Bill Manes and John Stamatis owned the gelding, who was one of five horses from the opening division that were claimed away from their connections. No Time At All is a 12-time winner with earnings now in excess of $100,000.

Alwaysyourway also used rallying skills to capture his $11,000 division for driver Travis Cullen and co-owner/trainer Cara Steacy.

The nine-year-old son of Always A Virgin-Penny Artcade got away fourth while Sunny Bo powered to the lead and served up fractions of :28.3, :57.4 and 1:27. Alwaysyourway made steady gains in the third quarter and then used a :28.2 closing frame to win by eight lengths over Sunny Bo in 1:56.1. Race favourite Mission Three was third.

Clarke Steacy co-owned the gelding who was one of four horses claimed from the second division. Sent off at odds of 7-1, Alwaysyourway won for the 26th time in his career while pushing his bankroll over $190,000.

General Lee went to the front and didn’t look back in the third division en route to his wire-to-wire score for the duo of driver Travis Cullen and trainer Dwain Spitzig.

The seven-year-old son of Sportswriter-Blinker Hanover sliced out splits of :28, :57.1 and 1:26.3 before using a :30.1 closing quarter to win by 7-3/4 lengths over Larjon Lucky in 1:56.4. Sights On You took home the show dough.

Kevin Skilton of North York, Ont. owns the gelding who is two-for-two this season and a 10-time winner to date. The $5,500 payday bumped his lifetime earnings to $65,717.

Mortgage My Villa was a popular winner in the final division for driver Louis-Philippe Roy and trainer Victor Puddy.

The seven-year-old son of Blue Burner-My Villa got away fifth while Oakrock Eldorado shot to the top and carved out fractions of :28.4, :58.4 and 1:29.2. Mortgage My Village made a big move to go after the leader in the third quarter, and then used a :29.2 closing quarter to win by six lengths over Uber Hanover in 1:58.4. Evasive Card Shark was third.

Limco Inc of Chateauguay, Que. owned the gelding, who was one of five horses claimed from the race. It was the 17th lifetime score for the career winner of $149,931.
