Fraser Open To Hottieonthehorizon
After disappointing as the favourite while finishing second in last week’s top class for distaffers, Hottieonthehorizon bounced back and rallied to take home top prize in Thursday’s $10,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Fraser Downs.
Trainer/driver Kelly Hoerdt worked out a dreamy, two-hole trip for Hottieonthehorizon, who sat behind Mrs Suhwiggins through fractions of :28.1, :58.3 and 1:26.3.
Hoerdt found a clear lane in the late going and Hottieonthehorizon sprinted home in :28.2 to win by three-quarters of a length over longshot Whatineedisaman in 1:55.1. Even-money favourite Mrs Suhwiggins had to settle for the show dough in the five-mare affair.
Leslie Godlien and Richard Lancaster share ownership on the five-year-old daughter of Vertical Horizon-As Hot As Promised. The victory was her 10th of the season and the 25th of her career. The $5,000 payday bumped her overall earnings to $221,888.
