Sock It Away Spectacular In P.E.I.

Sock It Away’s record-setting career continued Sunday afternoon (Dec. 19) with a 1:54.4 victory for the fastest mile ever in the month of December in P.E.I. racing history at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

David Dowling was in the driver’s seat of the champion son of Pang Shui for the victory in the $3,400 Preferred Pace for trainer Kevin MacLean and owner Reg MacPherson of Stratford, P.E.I. Screen Test (Corey MacPherson) closed hard to finish second ahead of Bugsy Maguire (Dale Spence).

Dowling also won with his own trainee Boys Turn in the $3,050 Preferred 2, defeating Mantario (Myles Heffernan) by a neck in 1:55.1.

Adam Merner was razor sharp on the card with a quartet of driving victories. The Charlottetown pilot hit the line first with Mc Pat (1:55.3) from the Gilles Barrieau barn, Painted Pony (1:58.4) for trainer Raymond White, My Land (1:55.1) for the pacer’s fifth straight win from the Jennifer Doyle stable, and by 10 open lengths with Woodmere Soul (1:59.3) for trainer Ron Matheson.

Trainer Matheson also scored with Ashes To Ashes (1:57.1) in line to Ken Murphy.

If he's able to stay sound until then, who else would love to see Sock It Away vs. Time To Dance in a match race next Summer???
