Mohawk's Monday Qualifiers Complete
Following Friday's cancellation, Woodbine Mohawk Park hosted a qualifying quartet under sunny skies on Monday morning (Dec. 13).
The session opened with a pair of $250,000 career earners back in action for the first time since late August.
A five-time winner this year, pacing mare Sly Eleanor N returned with a 4-1/2-length romp in 1:54.3 with Sylvain Filion aboard the eight-year-old daughter of Mcardle for trainer/co-owner Gary Lance. She carved out fractions of :28.1, :56.4 and 1:25.2 with 2020 Western Canada Pacing Derby champion Major Custard closing well for second and Skater Chick finishing third.
A regular in Preferred action this past summer, six-year-old Muscle Hill gelding Muscle Fashion was back on track with a 1:58 qualifying victory over stablemate Free Willy Hanover for trainer Carmen Auciello. James MacDonald was in the bike behind the three-time winner this year, who last competed in the Earl Rowe Memorial Invitational Trot. He followed Free Willy Hanover through panels of :28.1, :58.2 and 1:27.2 before trotting by to win by 1-1/4 lengths. Storm Trotter finished third and Cindy Lane, who matched strides with the tempo-setter at the third quarter mark, ended up fourth.
