Miller Motors In GLADA Trot
When the starter said go in the $9,200 Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association (GLADA) Trot on Saturday night (Dec. 11) at Northfield Park, Larry Ferrari sent the 4-5 favourite So Wishful for the lead from post 5, but the front is where eventual winner Eddie Miller and Son Of Sona were headed for and held to the finish.
Miller took command with Son Of Sona in the :29.2 first stanza, which left So Wishful on the limb. Rather than forcing the pace, Ferrari was content to travel unhurriedly on the outside as Miller and his trotter passed by the halfway point in 1:00.1. The two leaders were still side-by-side as the pace quickened and they trotted by the three-quarters in 1:28:3. When they headed for home, Son Of Sona drew off by two lengths over his challenger, a margin that So Wishful was unable to make up. At the wire, it was all Son Of Sona as the timer flashed 1:58.4 and, despite being hung the entire mile, So Wishful finished second. Emerald Chip, who was sixth at the three-quarters, rallied home third best for Lauren Harmon.
Eddie Miller drove the winner who is owned and trained by John Oliverio. He paid $11.40 to win.
