Hoerdt Sweeps Fraser Features
After going through a bit of a rough stretch this fall, Hottieonthehorizon stepped up her game and captured Thursday’s $10,000 Fillies & Mares Open at Fraser Downs.
Winless since September 9, Hottieonthehorizon was parked past the opening quarter in :26.3, but eventually cleared to the top for trainer/driver Kelly Hoerdt. After taking over from Glimpseofgoodness, the five-year-old daughter of Vertical Horizon-As Hot As Promised rolled the field through panels of :56.3 and 1:26.1 before using a :28.2 kicker to win by a length over Glimpseofgoodness in 1:54.3. Moosette was third.
Sent off as the 3-2 favourite, the 24-time winner improved her 2021 record to 9-3-6 from 37 starts with the win. She went over $210,000 in lifetime earnings with the victory for owner/breeder Leslie Godlien and partner Richard Lancaster.
It was one of four wins on the card for trainer/driver Kelly Hoerdt. He also clicked with Cenalta Express (1:52.2), Crush Me (1:55) and then closed his four-bagger with a nose decision aboard Armycaptin Hanover (1:53.1) in the $12,000 conditioned Open Pace.
