Crystal Fashion Repeats At Dover
Crystal Fashion repeated in the Open Handicap Trot at Dover Downs on Tuesday night (Dec. 7).
At the start of the race, driver Russell Foster launched Northern Express from post 7 and trotted to the top. Jack Parker Jr. and Morairtime settled in the pocket and then regained the lead past the quarter from Northern Express.
Morairtime set fractions on a chilly night of :27.3 to the quarter and :55.4 to the half. Crystal Fashion, the 1/5 favourite, was angled off the rail by driver Montrell Teague at the five-eighths marker. They confidently marched first over and challenged Morairtime to three-quarters in 1:24.2.
Crystal Fashion easily passed Morairtime, in the stretch and won by a length in 1:53. He paid $2.80 for the win. The son of Cantab Hall is owned by EVM Racing LLC of Middletown, Delaware and trained by Chuck Crissman Jr.
Northern Express sat in the pocket and finished 2nd for trainer Arty Foster Jr. His son Russell Foster drove. Morairtime cut the mile and tired late to finish third. Carol Jamieson-Parker trains her and her husband Jack Parker Jr. drove.
Corey Callahan won three races on the card.
There is a $3,351 Pentafecta carryover to the last race on Wednesday night.
There are two Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund races for three-year-old pacing fillies going to post on Wednesday (Dec. 8). The purses are $20,000 each. The 12th-race feature at Dover Downs is the Mares Winner’s Over/Select Pace.
