Wings Of Royalty Retired, To Stud
Speedy stakes winning trotter Wings Of Royalty has been retired by his connections and will shift activity to the stud barn for the 2022 breeding season.
On Saturday, Dec. 4, Merrie Medo Farm in Delaware announced the addition of Wings Of Royalty 2,1:56; 3,1:54.1; 4,1:51:4 ($894,626) to their stallion roster for 2022.
The grandson of Credit Winner retires with 39 wins against stakes and open company spanning a celebrated trotting campaign that saw him win multiple New York Sire Stakes at two and three.
At three, Wings Of Royalty started in the Hambletonian, advancing to the prestigious $1,000,000 final at The Meadowlands. In addition, Wings Of Royalty won several legs and the final of the Massachusetts Sire Stakes as a sophomore, as well as several legs of the New York Sire Stakes while finishing second in the $225,000 final at Yonkers.
At age four, he finished second in the Hambletonian Maturity (to Horse of the Year Hannelore Hanover) and was an Open winner at Yonkers. Throughout his career Wings Of Royalty established several track records at Plainridge and Saratoga raceways.
The son of sub-1:52 and Hambletonian winning NY sire RC Royalty (sire of Hambletonian winner Royalty For Life) defeated top trotters Pinkman, Crazy Wow, Habitat, Homicide Hunter, Cruzado Del Noche, Meladys Monet and Il Sogno Dream during his impressive career. His dam is the multiple Stakes producing Pine Chip mare Sparkling Cider and the family includes Hambletonian winner Harmonious 3,1:53.2 ($1,036,392) and World Champion Lifelong Victory 3,1:54.1 ($350,587).
Chris Coyle from Olive Branch Farm had this to say about Wings Of Royalty: "Wings Of Royalty is a gorgeous horse with a classy appearance and stands 16 hands tall. We have cared for him for many years here in his vacation time for George Ducharme and owner Mr. Campbell. He combines early speed, durability and toughness from a sire line that is very popular now in our sport. I will be breeding my own mares to him personally, as the Delaware program is very exciting with money being added again in 2022."
The service fee is $3,000, live foal. Inquiries to Merrie Medo Farm 2811 Wheatleys Pond Rd, Smyrna, DE 19977. Email: [email protected], Phone: 302-632-3716.
