'Filibuster Friday' At The Meadows
Filibuster Hanover lead every step as he rolled to a comfortable victory — his second straight — in the $16,000 Open Handicap Pace on Friday (Dec. 3) at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Once Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. gave the seven-year-old Somebeachsomewhere-Fashion Ecstasy gelding a 29.2 second-quarter breather, he was untouchable, prevailing in 1:51.1. The pocket-sitting Rockin Ron was three parts of a length back in second, giving trainer Ron Burke an exacta sweep, with SB Bodacious third.
Burke Racing Stable, Joseph DiScala, Jr., J&T Silva Stables and Weaver Bruscemi LLC campaign Filibuster Hanover, who now boasts a gaudy career bankroll in excess of $1.94 million.
Elsewhere on Friday’s card, Dream Out Loud N, a 14-year-old Bettors Delight-Nothin Butadreamer gelding who faces mandatory retirement at the end of this month, won his sixth straight and 17th this year, moving him into a tie for third on the 2021 North American victories list. Winning Shadow and Swan Fine Lady sit atop the leaderboard with 18 wins apiece. Dave Palone drove for trainer Marcus Marashian, who owns with Tina Porfilio.
Palone and Wrenn each piloted three winners on the 11-race card.
Live harness racing at The Meadows resumes Tuesday when the program features a $5,041.75 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
