Wild And Crazy Guy Takes Preferred
A compact group of six trotters faced the starting gate at Flamboro Downs in Thursday’s main event – the $13,000 Preferred 2 – and it was Wild And Crazy Guy who turned a two-hole trip into a solid score.
Wild And Crazy Guy sat a pocket trip behind Esquire who carved out fractions of :28.2 and :58 before coming under attack from the pocket-popping Wild And Crazy Guy at the three-quarter pole in 1:27.1. Wild And Crazy Guy then used a :29.2 final frame to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Esquire in 1:56.4. O Narutac Perfetto, who closed as the odds-on favourite, was third.
Trained and driven by Martin Lachance, the 10-year-old son of Crazed-My Babys Momma won for the seventh time this season and for the 49th time in his career. The veteran, who has banked over $670,000 to date, is owned by Jean Brunet and Ted Gewertz.
