Dragon The Line Scores In London
Launching from post seven, Dragon The Line landed on the lead and held firm on the point to win the $8,800 featured pace at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Tuesday (Nov. 23).
Driver Colin Kelly cleared command with Dragon The Line to a :28.3 first quarter while Heresthatmanagain settled into the pocket and odds-on favourite Bearcatwilly raced parked uncovered. Bearcatwilly continued to press Dragon The Line through the lane first time, clicking by the half in :57.3, and took a narrow lead on the pacesetter to three-quarters in 1:27. But Bearcatwilly began to backtrack around the final turn while Dragon The Line chugged along the point, extending to a 1-1/2-length win in 1:58.2. Captain Ray kicked home to finish second while Heresthatmanagain and Township Willy finished third in a dead heat.
A four-year-old gelding by Dragon Again, Dragon The Line won his fifth race from 11 starts this season, pushing his earnings to $24,944. Teesha Symes trains the $12.30 winner for owner Michael Goldberg.
In the co-featured $8,800 pace for fillies and mares, A Black Diamond delivered as the 2-5 favourite with an open-length 1:58.1 win. The three-year-old Betterthancheddar filly grabbed the top to a :29.4 first quarter and rated middle fractions of 1:00 and 1:28.4 before firing home to win by 5-1/4 lengths over Cayo Loco and Deep In The Red.
