'Bugsy' Bolts In Red Shores Preferred
Bugsy Maguire was fired from the start and heeded no challenges on his way to a mild 8-1 upset in the Saturday afternoon (Nov. 13) Preferred Pace over a "sloppy" track at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Leaving from post 1, Bugsy Maguire, with Dale Spence in the bike, was pointed forward in the $3,400 feature and laid all the fractions on his way to a 1:57 victory over a track rated four seconds off. Heavily favoured Time To Dance (Driven by Marc Campbell) sat in the two-hole and finished second while Moonwriter (David Dowling) was third. Wade Sorrie trains Bugsy Maguire for owner Walter Simmons of Summerside.
Spence scored a driving triple on the day winning with Get Home Terry (2:04) for trainer Edgar Stewart in a $4,000 P.E.I. Harness Racing Industry Association Autumn Series division and with Howmac Blaze (2:00.3) in overnight action for trainer Michelle Myers.
Myers had two training wins on the day with Adam Merner steering Maggiesdelight (2:03.1) to victory in Race 8.
The other $4,000 P.E.I.H.R.I.A. Autumn Series division was won by Psili Ammos (2:07) for trainer-driver Kenny Arsenault.
A trio of $5,000 P.E.I.H.R.I.A. Fall Challenge Series divisions were won by Lock Her Up (2:04.1) and Brookdale Ollie (2:00.2) both in line to Arsenault for the driving triple and by Egamer (2:06.2) for driver Ken Murphy.
Corey MacPherson made three visits to the historic winner’s circle with Private Dancer (2:04.3) for trainer Paul Conway, Magical Cowgirl (2:01.4) for Pat Murphy and with Tell Me Why (2:00.3) for Joe MacDonald.
Live racing continues Sunday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. (EDT).
Total handle was $64,196.
