Rose Ann Loranger Passes
Former Standardbred industry participant Rose Ann Loranger of Pointe Claire, Que. passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at Jewish General Hospital in Montreal at the age of 64.
Retired Executive in the lumber industry, golfer, avid downhill skier, and loving friend to all who met her, Rose Ann will be dearly missed by five remaining siblings, many nieces and nephews, and countless loving friends. She was a bright light to all who met her.
She will be remembered for her kind and giving personality and warm beautiful smile. She had a deep love of horses and all animals including barn cats. Born in Levack, Ont., her career in the lumber industry brought her to Montreal at a young age.
She developed a passion for horse racing when she met her loving spouse, Gilbert Lacharite (predeceased in 2001). Gilbert was a longtime owner and trainer at the Blue Bonnets Raceway. Rose Ann was a perfect fit in the world of horse racing and she spoiled every horse with kisses, hugs and treats. During her time in the harness racing industry, she owned very accomplished horse Undersky Calypso, who had the privilege of having Pierre Lacharite as her trainer.
The family will receive condolences on Sunday, Nov. 14 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 Sources Blvd, DDO, QC.
Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Rose Ann Loranger.

Rose Ann and Gilbert were two
Rose Ann and Gilbert were two of my most loved friends and clients in my 20 years of working as a track veterinarian in Montreal at Blue Bonnets/Hippodrome de Montreal. Both of these truly rare individuals had a love for animals that was easy to see. It was one of the highest honors of my life to have worked for Rose and Gilbert. Rose Ann will surely be missed by any person that ever met her.
